Artist's Comments

Created specifically for an assignment entitled "Christmas Lights." I just love the slightly abstract nature of this christmas tree topper and the christmas lights, the warm colours and what i achieved by playing with a torch to light the glittery snowflake as the flash was too bright!

Appreciate any constructive criticism...

Wow I really love the composition, but from a distance it cries out for a little more contrast between the foreground and background, if you're asking for critique ^^

Interesting shot, and pretty well executed - but I'd mirror the comment above. Perhaps a little more light on the snowflake(?) would reveal exactly what it is.

Mind you, the more I look at it the more like a coral reef it appears hehe.

very nice composition and pretty, cheerful colors. i like the blurred background and the sharp texture. from far away though the many lights and colors make the object unrecognizable...
still, great shot

yer - interesting comment - guess i was kinda going for the feel more than the recognizability of the snowflake star thing - otherwise i would have zoomed out a bit so show the full thing! But yer- thanks for the comment

he he he - indeed. I was kinda more focused on the feel and the christmas lights than just how ambiguous the snowflake (? - i too am not sure what it is!?) was... But thankyou.

ah ok - contrast between forground and background.

Wonder how i could execute that? Hmmmm good point. I didn't have good enough lighting i guess - that would make a difference if better lighting on the snowflake. Hmmm

Tahnkyou

Yeah, although it is pretty hard unless you had some weird little spotlight thing. I had the same problem when taking photos of our christmas decorations here last week.
